12" wheels are standard and can fit from 4.5-5.5" rims under the arches 13" wheels reqire cutting of arches 10" wheels wont fit over your discs normally, standard tires are 145/70 r12 's but 165/60r12's give better handling and grip. 155/70r12's are often seen too.

Wheel size
standard wheels will be 4.5x12" as was standard on rover alloys and steels when fitted with disc brakes. 4.5 rims can take 165 wide tires instead of standard 145 tires for improved grip. wider rims increase the offset so reqire wider arches, depending on makes and models some will fit within standard arches others wont. Around 5.5" wide or over you are likly to have clearence problems and may have to cut the arches. the wider the wheels the more steering feedback you get, ie u hit a pot hole one side will steer towards it suddenly if you dont hold wheel straight. it also puts increased stress on wheel bearing so they will reqire more frequent replacement to avoid failure. as the widerest tires easiliy avalible are 165 tires that only reqire 4.5" rim there is no need for really wide rims appart from for styling. so if your buying a set of alloys 5x12" is a good bet.
to find out if partically wheels will fit under arches ul ether have to work it out from offset or ask people who have had them.

arches
The W&P arches are a bit wider than the standard ones, you may find the wheels may look a bit skinny inside them. You may need to fit some small spacers to fill the out, alternativly if you are running the standard 145 section tyres, have a think about getting wider 165 section rubber. These do make the wheels look far more chunky and help fill out any arches.

wheel arches
the plastic wheel arches fitted as standard to your car will accept 5 and most 5.5 wheels I know as they stick in a little further, Revo made a 5.5 that fitted. Wheels make a car look good but the tyre do the work and 165x60 x12 can fit all . As I said earlier, any decent supplier will let you know whether their brand of wheels will fit your standard arches. If you want to change your arches go for something decent looking like WP style or you could cover yours with stainless steel covers

Plz can someone tell me if theys arches are legal?
I think you may get away with it, My daughter got her Equinox MOTd with the standard plastin arch and 6 x 13 175,50s with no problem and they stuck out about 3/4 from the edge.

rubbing
Yeah, if its rubbing there, then the suspension is too low. I run 13s on mine with the standard arch profile and its fine but then I am also using full coilovers too so there isnt much travel. Ive only ever got it to rub going up onto my drive and then only on full lock.

12-inch rims and tyres
will fit on rims just wheel profile will be a bit big so u might have some rubbing issues to resolve. 165 tires will fit on standard 4.5" rim so 155's will easyily fit on 5" will just be clearence problems may have to cut arches ect.

tyres
I like Yokohama A539 165/60R12 they fit on a standard rim but best on a 5" or 5.5" rim but then your'e into body mods on the front wheel arches. PS. falken are pants! They must make them out of soap!

Re.
Its best to ask the local tyre centre but considering your rim is only 1/2" wider the standard I cant see a problem with it. I ran 5x10" steels for 4 years with 145`s, the rims fatigue cracked around the hub nuts on the front wheels ( Weller crap!) but the tyres never fell off!!!! Just bear in mind the offset of the alloy combined with the aspect ratio of the 145 tyre will probably rub your front wheel arch edge unless its been modified.

wheels
standard non cooper 10 inch steel wheels were 3.5x10 originally then widened to 4.5x10. If you want 10 inch minilite wheels that do not stick out past the arches with the 165/70/10 yokohama 008 tyre then look at the Minispares minilife wheels. They are available in 4.5x10 in standard and Cooper S offsets. If you have disc brakes like me you will need the S offset to avoid needing wheel arch extensions. I have S offset 4.5x10 Minilifes and yoko 008s. If you have drums on the front you will not need the S offset. However if you plan to fit discs in the future then the drum brake offset wheel will make the wheel/tyre stick out past the wheel arch requiring the use of arch extensions. If you do want discs in the future speak to Minispares they will be able to tell you whether the S offset on a drum brake system will be ok. To give you some idea with the 4.5x10 minilifes fitted your car will look just like the Coopers on the Italian Job..

Centre wheel to arch trim measurements
Does anyone have the correct standard measurement for the distance between the center of the wheel and the arch trim? Its just that my mini seems low at the front and I can only find the data for hydroelastic suspension. Cheers.
